Therapy for female physicians & medical professionals
IN SANTA BARBARA & VIRTUALLY ACROSS CALIFORNIA
As a female physician, you are strong, successful, and resilient- the ultimate high achiever.
And you’re also utterly exhausted, stressed and burned out.
You’ve worked so hard to get to this point, sacrificed so much, but you feel:
Drained by the long hours and stressful interactions with patients
As if everyone needs something from you- at work, with children,
and in relationshipsOverworked and compromised, often by the very medical intuition for whom you work
Disconnected from family and loved ones
Without time and energy to nurture your relationships, let alone yourself
That your own problems are too insignificant to seek help, or ashamed you might have personal challenges at all
So awful that you wonder what it might feel like to leave medicine all together
You’re ready find relief, clarify what is most important to you, and feel fulfilled.
How therapy works
The way life’s going is not only unsustainable, but also unfulfilling. In therapy, I can help you press pause, so you can take a real breath, and then rediscover what’s most valuable to you.
We’ll work collaboratively and at your own pace. All you need to do is show up (and bring a little motivation). There’s no planning ahead. No homework or advanced preparation.
We will think deeply together about the multi-dimensional, dynamic human that you are… not only a doctor, but also a woman, a mom, a friend, a mentor, a partner, a caretaker, a mind, a body, etc. We’ll make space for your own emotional needs, which are often neglected in your busy world. We’ll figure out ways to implement change in the areas where you can exercise control. And we’ll practice strategies for feeling more grounded when life feels out of your control.
Whether you're a primary care physician, working in a hospital setting, a surgeon, or other kind of medical professional, there are benefits to working with a counselor that specializes in your field. In a way, you can just jump right in. Of course your life is completely unique to you, but as a therapist that works with doctors, I have a greater understanding of your world and the issues that can surface in your work, at home and in your personal life.
